MIVV’s interest in the “Adventures” is now clear. For the current generation of these off-road motorcycles, we have many recipes to offer. This time the Ducati DesertX 22/23 ended up on the dyno and fitted with the DAKAR titanium muffler it scored a performance upgrade

On sale since last year, this Ducati offers a demanding off-road “set-up”.

It has been missing for a long time in this segment and completely with a maxienduro with 21” and 18” wheels. It is not a city bike and consequently the aftermarket components must follow precise rules as they must offer above-average sturdiness to tackle mule tracks, stony dirt roads, fords, dunes…

Let’s get into the subject starting from the DesertX engine, the Desmo equipped with an “L” architecture derived from the Multistrada 950 engine.

Its power changes according to the chosen “Riding mode” (there are six) and the spacing of the gears and the final ratio are designed for off-road use.

The thrust is vigorous and progressive… but MIVV says you can make it even better.

It does that with a muffler that has a strong character and an evocative name:DAKAR

The exhaust is proposed in Slip-On configuration (remove the original and mount the MIVV) and consequently in standard positioning.

The homologation complies with the OEM one (in our case Euro5).

The DAKAR muffler

The project is the result of the company’s R&D experience in the field of rally competitions.

The exhaust is made of titanium with the addition of a special “pearlead” finish which makes it “highly resistant.”

The total length of the body is 300 mm, and its weight is 1.40 kg.

The Slip-on configuration allows for quick and safe assembly of the muffler to the stock exhaust manifolds. The replacement affects the overall aesthetics of the vehicle, the sound and performance of the engine.

The advantages of this exhaust: +2.20 HP on maximum power at 9,400 rpm; +2.60 Nm on maximum torque, reached at 6,700 rpm; – 1.10kg. on the weight, compared to the standard terminal.

The analysis of the graph with the trend of torque and power on the bench over the entire engine’s rev range (measured at the wheel and available on the MIVV website in the page dedicated to the DesertX), shows a linear increase of the two parameters that, starting from 4,300 rpm, is constantly above stock performance.
